In the U.S., we have the NEXRAD system, which spits out an incredible amount of radar data at various levels of detail. If you want the latest and greatest, you can pull individual messages out, which is a blast. Alternatively, you can look at the mosaic radar visualization.
The Multi-Radar/Multi-Sensor System (MRMS) is one of those mosaics we’ve been pulling for our use. The forecast models come in every hour or six hours. MRMS shows up every 2 minutes.
Boxer (our back end) processes it just fine and makes it available for display to Terrier (our front end).
Terrier’s ability to seamlessly integrate and visualize radar data from multiple sources, like NEXRAD and MRMS, can provide a comprehensive and holistic view of atmospheric conditions, enabling better decision-making and preparedness.
